New Free Pattern

This is my latest free pattern, designed by special request for a lovely lady who wanted a Christening Card featuring a church font.  It's all whitework - and if you're a bit worried about over-embossing, I often add a bit of white pencil on the back of the parchment - sssshh!  Don't tell anybody!

By Special Request.

I had promised myself that I had done my final Christmas design for this year but how could I resist this special request from Lynn B.  Thanks for the suggestion Lynn, and I hope you like the finished design.

New Free Pattern

There are never enough patterns for men, I am told, so I hope this helps.

Still adding to my new Christmas Collection.  Here's one of the latest -  VERY easy!  Traced with black pen and then embossed.

Christmas is coming.....

Just put my new 'Christmas Collection' on the website.  There are more to come in the next week but I've had lots of requests by crafters who want to get a head-start on Christmas.  This is my own personal favourite so far.  It's called 'Robins' Parade'.

The latest challenge!

I was recently asked for a rather unusual design by a crafter in Nova Scotia.  I thought I would let you see it because I'd like to know if you think I should put it on my website.  I think its a rather 'fun' pattern.  What do YOU think?

Pansy Basket

This free pattern is new on my website today.  I embossed the pansies and then coloured on the reverse with blendable pencils.

Bristol - and new ideas!

Bristol was just great.  I met parchment crafters from all over the world, all as keen as we are.  Sometimes we couldn't speak the same language but somehow we managed to make ourselves understood. Several suggestions for designs were made by visitors to the stand.  If the lady who was the owl fanatic reads this, I am working on some little owls right now. Also suggested was a church font for a Christening card and  a Rolls Royce design for somebody's husband.  I could only take a small proportion of my patterns to the Show but by far the most popular  was the Three Choirboys christmas design. Please remember, if there is some special design you want, I love a challenge.  Just let me know!

Summer Picnic - free pattern

There's a new free pattern on the website, called 'Summer Picnic'.  It's very easy and made as an Anniversary design, but could easily be a birthday card. Free patterns are now being presented in PDF form instead of you having to print off each piece separately. Still getting ready for Bristol as I don't want to leave all that printing of patterns until the last minute...as I usually do! I shall bring my latest patterns to sell at the Exhibition but if there is a special one you would like, just let me know via contact-us@judithmaslen.co.uk and you can collect on the day.

Skateboarders and a dragon!

These are featured on my new patterns.  In response to a request for a card for a teenage boy, I designed the skateboarder - then because of 'equal opportunities' I felt there had to be a girl skateboarder too.  The green dragon is from my 'Country Pub Signs' series, but coloured red he could become a Welsh dragon.

New designs featuring glamourous hair-styles!

And this is one of my new designs, fresh on the website this week. Recently I went on a workshop with Linda Williams and she showed us the 'hair' technique which inspired me to do my own thing!

There is also a new free pattern called 'Sweet and Simple' which I hope you will like.  Its quite an easy design to work. How are you getting on with the new pattern download system?  You can of course still order to have patterns sent via the post, but its so much more exciting to hit a key and have it right there on your computer.  I'm just not a very patient person - when I want to do something, I want to do it NOW!

'Let's Dance!' continued.

Got a bit ahead of myself because this won't be on the website until Friday 15th. Feb.  Not long to wait - just got a bit excited, telling you about the new back-to-front embossing pages!

'Let's Dance!'

jm056 is the number of the new sheet featuring three dancers.  My own favourite is the jazz dancer.  Some of you may have noticed that when a reasonable amount of embossing is involved, I'm providing an extra sheet to show the design at the embossing stage - back-to-front of course, because that's how you see it when you're embossing. I've done this with the Jazz Dancer and I'll be making this a permanent feature in as many of my patterns as possible from now on, especially in the whitework designs.  I'm already working on another set of designs for the jm056 series, one of them being a tap-dancer, and I'm also trying to fit in a 'Fred and Ginger' !  This will probably involve a bit of  'bling' in the shape of stick-on jewels, of course!

New 'Romantic Designs'

I've added three new patterns to my 'Romantic Designs' series. The one shown here is an anniversary card but could also be used as a birthday card with a musical theme.  I've included a 'Happy Birthday' greeting on the pattern. So pleased my 'Gina the Gymnast and Friends' collection is proving useful, especially as these were all designs suggested by parchers who had found my website.  So please remember if you need a special design to be included on my website, just let me know.  I love a challenge.

Cradle for a Newborn.

Just letting you know there's a new free pattern on the website.  I really like the Pergamano flower tool, so I used it in this pattern.

Happy New Year!

...and my New Year's resolution is to work through that notebook of ideas!  Just had over a week away from parchment, staying with a friend and then spending New Year in a hotel where I felt thoroughly spoiled.  Getting withdrawal symptoms now so its back to work tomorrow.  Now the GOOD NEWS! As from today, www.judithmaslen.co.uk now offers the option of buying patterns by instant download.  No postage and packing costs!  We've tested it out but until the first real order comes in I shall be biting my nails nervously!  But I'm SURE its going to work wonderfully.  I've been asked for ages to try and get this organized, so here it is!
